An American Thio Li-Ann

Here are a few quotes from Rep. Kern’s hateful speech…
Studies show, no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted for more than, you know, a few decades. . .

I honestly think it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam. . .

They want to get them into the government schools so they can indoctrinate them . . . They are going after our young children, as young as two years of age, to try to teach them that the homosexual lifestyle is an acceptable lifestyle.

You know, Gays are infiltrating city councils. . . Did you know that the city council of Eureka Springs is now controlled by gays? . .
. They are winning elections.

We have the gay-straight alliance coming into our schools. . .

One of my colleagues said We don’t have a gay problem in our community… well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I’m going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation.

Like our own Thio Li-Ann, Sally Kern believes on imposing her personal beliefs on society. I’m copying the response posted on JMBzine (which I also copied these quotes off) because it presents what I want to say more coherently than I can and minus the expletives that always creep into my language when I’m writing about bible creeps these people.

btw did you notice that according to her ‘Islam’ is a major threat too?

This is why it is critical that folks speak out against gay hate speech. Sure Rep. Sally Kern has the right to be hateful and to say hateful things (as long as she doesn’t threaten people), but she doesn’t have the right to stay in the legislature. The people have got to speak up and vote her out of office, or better yet the legislature should impeach her and remove her from office. I see this as being no different than a state legislator coming out of the closet as a rabid racist and supporter of the KKK.
It must be made clear that it is wrong to refer to people made in the Image of God, as being a “cancer”, as being “worse than the terrorists or Islam” (and let’s not attack Muslim people either, but I guess Rep. Kern is a bigot in more than one way). This kind of speech is SICK AND WRONG.
I would encourage folks to call Ms. Kern and let her know that hate is not an Oklahoma value (and for that matter isn’t a Christian value either).

And one last taste… from near the opening of her speech (which she, again like our own Thio Li-Ann claims her colleagues applauded her for)…

You know, the very fact that I’m talking to you like this here today, puts me in jeopardy. OK? Uh and I’m not anti, I’m not gay-bashing, but according to God’s word that is not the right kind of lifestyle, it has deadly consequences for those people involved in it, they have more suicides, uh and they’re more discouraged, there’s more illness, their uh lifespans are shorter, you know?

It’s, it’s, it’s not a lifestyle that is good for this nation.

Please–if you are American, vote her out! (We have no choice here… nominated MPs are not nominated by us people. They apply for the post & get appointed to the position–so… )

  1. “It’s, it’s, it’s not a lifestyle that is good for this nation.” And it spreads! Right. What ignorance. I hope the Oklahomans vote her out of office.

  2. “And one very, very small comfort — local politicians probably can’t get away with equating Islam with terrorism. Or, they wouldn’t dare.”

Not out loud & not in public at least…!

And yes, thanks for the positive politicians reminder–I needed that. I think a big, big problem with people like Sally Kern & Thio Li-Ann is they create a monstrous threatening ‘enemy’ in their minds (you can substitute ‘Muslims’ or ‘Jews’ or ‘Black People’ for ‘gay people’ in her speech and run it through perfectly well… suspect if she clears one category she’ll move on to the next!) and use rhetoric to scare as many other people as possible.

Gay Teenagers trying to figure their orientation & committing suicide because they cannot accept it or are teased/bullied don’t die because they are gay. They are being deliberately murdered by a machinery set in motion by rhetoric delivered by smug self satisfied white sepulchers these two women are an example of.

  3. I read this some time back and felt it was disgusting too.

    Gay “lifestyle”? WTF

Lifestyle is Prada, shopping in Italy and $200 yoga pants.

Being gay is not a “lifestyle.” It’s a life.

Yes, being gay has “deadly consequences for those involved” Being beaten to death by gay-hating rednecks is just one of these many consequences. Being persecuted and taunted and discriminated for being gay also contributes to “more suicides” — and having an idiotic politician shoot their mouth off like this also contribute to gay people being more “discouraged”

But not all politicians suck. You miay already know about San Diego’s Republican Mayor Jerry Sanders’s move to reverse his previously-announced decision to veto a gay marriage resolution — way back in 2007.

He said he did so because he could not look into the face of his gay daughter, Lisa, or his gay staff members and “tell them that their relationship — their very lives — were any less meaningful than the marriage I share with my wife Rana.”

Dick and Mary Cheney should take a good hard look at Jerry Sanders and be ashamed of themselves.

There are always scum in the pond. But sometimes, you get someone like Jerry Sanders that offers a little bit of hope.

And one very, very small comfort — local politicians probably can’t get away with equating Islam with terrorism. Or, they wouldn’t dare.
